Tapestry Description

The Annunciation tapestry

Fra Angelico fresco – Florence tapestries

The Annunciation tapestry is from a fresco painted by Fra Angelico (1395-1455) at the Convent of San Marco in Florence, commissioned by Cosimo de Medici. It is the best known of about 50 frescoes by Angelico there. It was said that his pictures were painted “with such facility and piety”.

Today this wall tapestry is woven in Italy in a fine quality 69% viscose, 14% acrylic, 12% cotton and 5% polyester weave. Its golden detailing brings the tapestry to life. It is fully lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging – we supply instructions for hanging tapestries with every order.
