Tapestry Description

The Falconer tapestry

The Falconer tapestry shows a falconer with his servant, hunting falcon and dog set within a mille fleurs background typical of early 16th century medieval French tapestries. This is one of the six La tenture de la Vie Seigneuriale tapestries (Scenes from Lordly Life) woven in Brussels in about 1520. These are now hanging at the Musée National du Moyen Âge (Cluny Museum) in Paris, the world’s principal museum of medieval art.

It is woven in Belgium today in 83% cotton, 11% mercurise and 6% polyester. The tapestry is fully lined, with a rod pocket for easy wall-hanging. We supply instructions about how to hang a tapestry with each order.
