Description

The Peacock tapestry

The Forest wall hanging

The Peacock tapestry wall hanging is a detail from The Forest wall hanging tapestry which was woven as part of a Morris & Co house redecoration commission in London. The full 1887 original is in the Victoria and Albert Museum having a peacock, lion, rabbit, fox and raven designed by Philip Webb and woven at Merton Abbey. We also offer The Forest tapestry wallhanging showing the portion with the lion, fox and rabbit.

It is one of our William Morris tapestries now woven in France in 80% cotton and 20% viscose in two sizes. The tapestry is fully lined, with a rod pocket for easy wall-hanging – we enclose hanging information with each order.

Please note that the above image shows the larger size. The smaller size has a slightly lighter colour. Below is the larger size in a lovely home in New Jersey and below that is the smaller size in a dining room.
