Tapestry Description

Timberland tapestry

The Timberland tapestry shows a scene from The Jagaloon Tapestries in the royal castle at Wawel, Krakow, Poland. This large series of 360 tapestries, often called the Wawel tapestries, was commissioned by the King of Poland and woven in Brussels in about 1560. This tall, slim portiere tapestry shows trees in a forest set within an elegant border.

These are ideal as pairs or as a tryptych – the Timberland tapestry matches the Woodland tapestry to form a fine pair of wall tapestries. Today they are woven in Belgium in a thick yet tight weave of 73% cotton, 19% trevira and 8% acrylic. All are lined, with a rod pocket for easy wall hanging.
