Tapestry Description

18th Century Bouquet tapestry

English tapestry wall-hanging

The 18th Century Bouquet tapestry is from an English tapestry wall-hanging (now that’s a rarity). It was woven in Soho, London in the early 18th century when Flemish weavers were established there by the English royal court. Perhaps they were thinking “Anything the French can do we can do also?.

Today it is woven in France in 50% wool and 50% cotton and it is lined, with a rod pocket for easy wall-hanging. This high quality weave results in a rich fullness yet also having fine detailing. With every order we supply instructions about hanging tapestries, and about their care.
