Tapestry Description
Bayeux Tapestry horses
William the Conqueror
The Bayeux Tapestry horses wall-hanging shows the horses of William the Conqueror embarking for the invasion of England which culminated at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Today the 220 feet long embroidery is on display at the Bayeux Tapestry Museum in Normandy.
This is one of many Bayeux tapestries in our collection – this being woven in France in 80% cotton, 20% viscose. It is lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging. This medieval wall tapestry is available also without the border.
You might find it helpful to know that the links below all show tapestries woven by the same French weaver, having the same colour tones and yarn. (Four different European weavers produce our selection.) This is especially handy when hanging matching Bayeux tapestry wall-hangings side by side.
