Tapestry Description

Bayeux Tapestry Saxon ship

King Harold boat

The Bayeux Tapestry Saxon ship wallhanging is the right half of the King Harold tapestry which shows the king and his army embarking for Normandy in 1064 to meet Duke William of Normandy.

Numerous parts of this long 11th century embroidery are available from the selection of Bayeux Tapestry portions on our website. This particular scene is a French tapestry wall-hanging woven in 80% cotton and 20% viscose. It is fully lined and has a rod pocket for easy hanging – we supply instructions for hanging tapestries with every order. It is available also with a woven border.

You might find it helpful to know that the links below all show tapestries woven by the same French weaver, having the same colour tones and yarn. (Four different European weavers produce our selection.) This is especially handy when hanging matching Bayeux tapestry wall-hangings side by side.
