Portugese ships
The Caravelle wall tapestry shows two caravelles, or caravels, with a full wind bellowing their lateen sails as they forge through the water. Developed by the Portugese, caravelles were used successfully to broaden their colonial ambitions and their discoveries in the 15th and 16th centuries. The Caravelle wall-hanging is woven in Belgium in a thick yet tight weave of 79% cotton, 8% polyester, 6% wool, 6% acrylic. It is fully lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging – we provide tapestry hanging information with each order. (The upper image has more accurate colouring than this living room setting.) This tapestry has been discontinued.
