Tapestry Description

Descent to the Tournament tapestry

Manufacture Royale des Gobelins

The Descent to the Tournament tapestry is from a painting by Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921). This detail of the full tournament tapestry shows medieval knights descending to the jousting field with their ladies on their arms. It was woven originally at the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins for the Public Records Office. Today this French tapestry is woven in 94% cotton. It is lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging – we supply instructions for hanging a tapestry with your order.
