Tapestry Description

Finished Grapes Harvest

Apocalypse Tapestry detail

The Finished Grapes Harvest tapestry is from the late 14th century Apocalypse Tapestry. This largest and oldest surviving French tapestry, woven in wool and silk, can be seen in its own hall off the Chateau of Angers in the Loire Valley. Yes, it’s older and larger than the Bayeux Tapestry (which is an embroidery). It is quite an awesome experience to walk along it.

This detail is also called the Forsaken Vineyard tapestry (ie forsaken since the busy harvest is over). Today it is available woven in France by Jules Pansu in 95% cotton and 5% polyester. It is fully lined and has a rod pocket. We enclose instructions about how to hang a tapestry with your order.
