Pair of slim tall wall-hangings
The Gold Lady portiere tapestry is one of a pair of slim tall wall-hangings in the Directoire style inspired by the murals at the palace of Princess de Polignac, a friend of Marie Antoinette. It matches the Blue Lady portiere – a portiere is a long slim wall hanging designed to hang on either side of elegant doorways. Today both tapestries are woven in France, 80% cotton and 20% viscose. They are lined, with a rod pocket for easy wall-hanging. We supply instructions for the care and hanging of tapestries with each order.
