Tapestry Description

Irises in Garden tapestry

Van Gogh art tapestries

The Irises in Garden tapestry was originally painted by Vincent Van Gogh in 1889 and is now available as a wall tapestry. He painted it soon after he admitted himself to the asylum at Saint Paul-de-Mausole in Saint-Remy. It was one of the first of about 130 paintings made there, painting to keep his sanity. The strong outlines of the irises were influenced by Japanese woodblock prints popular at the time. It was submiited to the Salon des Independants in September 1889, along with The Starry Night. In 1987 it was sold to The Getty Center for $54 million. You can buy the tapestry for much less!

This version of one of our Van Gogh art tapestries is available in three sizes and woven in Belgium in 64% cotton, 19% acrylic, 9% wool and 8% polyester. Irises in Garden tapestry is lined and has a rod pocket for easy hanging.
