Tapestry Description
Lebensbaum Tree tapestry
Gustav Klimt Tree of Life tapestries
The Lebensbaum Tree tapestry detail is the central portion of a series of three mosaics composed of many semi-precious materials. It was produced by Gustav Klimt for the Vienna Secessionist Exhibition. It is also known as The Tree of Life and was part of the Beethoven Frieze, also called the Stoclet Frieze.
This is our favourite of the Gustav Klimt Tree of Life tapestries, stunningly woven in Belgium in a soft weave of 38% wool, 38% acrylic, 14% trevira, 7% cotton and 3% lurex (for dramatic detailing). It is fully lined with a rod pocket for easy wall-hanging – we supply instructions for this with every order. Please note that the largest size is non-returnable.
Here is this fine example of Gustav Tree of Life tapestries hanging in a home in Milwaukee. (The photo is taken at night so the real colour of the yellow has slightly more of a “lemon” hue as above and at the bottom of this page):
Below is a close-up detail of the full horizontal Lebensbaum tapestry which is equally applicable to this vertical tapestry:
