Tapestry Description

Search for the Unicorn tapestry

Burne-Jones tapestries

The Search for the Unicorn tapestry is also known as the Verdure with Deer and Shields tapestry which depicts the arms of the questing knights of the Round Table. It is one of the Sir Edward Burne-Jones tapestries of the Quest for the Holy Grail. This was adapted by John Henry Dearle in 1900 and woven by Morris & Co at Merton Abbey. The series is now exhibited at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.

This Search for the Unicorn tapestry is woven in France in 54% acrylic, 43% viscose, 2% polyamide, 1% polyester. It is lined, with a rod pocket – we enclose tapestry hanging instructions with your order. It is available in three sizes, the larger two being non-returnable.

Erica in Washington State kindly wrote after receiving this tapestry, “I grew up with a gorgeous medieval tapestry of knights shields hanging in my parents house. I wanted the same for my own home. I was worried that since my parents had purchased theirs directly from Europe so many years ago, I would be unable to find an exact copy. I came across the website and met Martin. HE IS AN ABSOLUTE GEM! So professional, kind, courteous, and thoughtful. He updated me every step of the way. He bent over backwards to get the exact one I wanted and made sure it arrived in time before my wedding day! Being able to give that tapestry to my (now husband) on our wedding day was the icing on the cake! The look on his face when he unwrapped it, SO PRICELESS! The quality is UNPARALLELED. The shape, size, same gorgeous colors, it is perfection! Martin, a million thank yous! We will definitely come to you again in the future.”.
