The Bath tapestry
La Tenture de la Vie Seigneuriale tapestries
The Bath tapestry shows a noble lady taking a bath surrounded by her ladies-in-waiting and servants. This mille fleurs tapestry is from the series La tenture de la Vie Seigneuriale tapestries woven in Brussels in about 1520. The original Louis XII (1462-1515) tapestry is at the inspiring Cluny Museu in Paris. It shows mille fleurs (thousand flowers) background of such flowers as marigolds, speedwell, hyacinths, daisies, periwinkles, violets, pansies and Solomon’s seals.
Today this medieval wall tapestry is woven in Belgium in 87% cotton and 13% polyester. The background is a dark blue. It is lined, with a rod pocket – we supply instructions for tapestry hanging with each order.
