Timberland tapestry – MIN TOO HIGH – FL
Wawel tapestries
The Timberland tapestry shows a scene from The Jagaloon Tapestries in the royal castle at Wawel, Krakow, Poland. This large series of 360 tapestries, often called the Wawel tapestries, was commissioned by the King of Poland and woven in Brussels in about 1560. This tall, slim portiere tapestry shows trees in a forest set within an elegant border.
These are ideal as pairs or as a tryptych – the Timberland tapestry matches the Woodland tapestry to form a fine pair of wall tapestries (see the Woodland tapestry page for a close-up detail). Today they are woven in Belgium in a thick yet tight weave of 73% cotton, 19% trevira and 8% acrylic. All are lined, with a rod pocket – we enclose information about hanging a tapestry with each order.
Below are two of the Polish Jagaloon tapestries – Timberland and Woodland, hanging in the entrance hall of a Washington State customer.
