Tapestry Description

Rococo wall tapestries

Two Couples at the Lake tapestry is a detail from the Noble Pastorale tapestries designed by Francois Boucher in 1755 showing two courting couples in an idyllic setting typical of his rococo art. Boucher was Court Painter to Louis XV and Director of the royal tapestry weaving workshops in Beauvais where this tapestry was originally designed and woven.

Like most of our Francois Boucher tapestries, this is now woven in Italy in 75% cotton and 25% viscose. These rococo wall tapestries are available either unfinished, ie off the loom without a lining for US$65, or as a lined wall tapestry with a rod pocket for US$130.
