Gallery of Views of Ancient Rome was commissioned by Louis XV’s ambassador to Rome from Giovanni Paolo Panini. This wonderful oil on canvas painting represented the different views of Ancient Rome in a ‘gallery theme’ and was painted by Panini in 1758. Panini’s paintings can be seen in the Louvre Museum in Paris, Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart and at the Metropolitan Museum in New York. This tapestry is finely woven in Italy in 41% Cotton, 53% Viscose and 6% Polyester & other fibers. It is fully lined with a rod pocket for ease of hanging.
