Tapestry Description

Wine Market tapestry – with border

Marché au Vin tapestries

The Wine Market tapestry, also known as Marché au Vin, is one of the two vendange harvest tapestries exhibited at the Cluny Museum in Paris. The first shows the owners of a 15th century vineyard inspecting the wine-making after the grapes harvest and sampling their wine. This second wall-hanging, the Wine Market tapestry, has the busy scene outside a town where farmers are presenting grapes and wine to prospective buyers.

Both these medieval vendange tapestries are woven in France in 80% cotton and 20% viscose today in two sizes. They are lined and bordered, with a rod pocket for easy hanging. You can order this with either the illustrated grapes border or with the blue border which can be seen on the Vintage tapestry. If you prefer the blue border simply email this request to us which we will confirm. Both may be ordered without a border.

Two sizes are available of Marché au Vin wall tapestries: please note that the above image shows the larger size which has slightly darker colours than the smaller size.
