Wawel tapestries at Krakow Castle
The Woody tapestry shows a detail from the Wawel tapestries, or the Jagaloon Tapestries, in the royal castle at Wawel, Krakow in Poland. There were originally 360 tapestries in this enormous series, commissioned by the King of Poland and woven in Brussels in about 1560. This tall, slim verdure tapestry shows a stream flowing through woodland within an elegant border.
These are ideal as matching pairs or as a tryptych. The Woody tapestry pairs perfectly with the Iris, Underwood, and Wooden Hills designs. Today all are woven in Belgium in 79% cotton, 8% polyester, 6% wool and 6% acrylic and are lined, with a rod pocket for easy tapestry hanging.
