Description
Louis XV Garden tapestry, left
Rococo style French tapestries
The Louis XV Garden tapestry, left side, shows musical aristocratic pursuits in the reign of King Louis XV (1710-1774). The fashion influence of Madame da Pompadour, mistress of the king, is clearly seen in the pink costumes. The tapestry is inspired by a Francois Boucher (1703-1770) painting in the Rococo style. He was First Painter of the King and enormously influential.
This French tapestry shows the full scene, whereas a pair of Rococo style French tapestries show the full elegant scene and the right side. Woven in France in 100% cotton, this is fully lined with a rod pocket – we supply hanging instructions with each order.
