At the Water tapestry
Tentures des Indes tapestries
At the Water tapestry is from the series of eight 17th century Tentures des Indes tapestries woven at Les Gobelins, Paris. These are now at the Council Chamber of the Magistral Palace in Valletta, Malta. It shows a horse and a flamingo with fish in a flowing river. The horse and flamingo also appear in slim tapestries depicting each half of this full tapestry. Today it is woven in France in a fine 50% wool and 50% cotton weave which gives both fine detailing and full depth. This square tapestry is lined, with a rod pocket – we supply tapestry hanging instructions with your order.
