Bullerswood Throw
William Morris carpet design
The Bullerswood Throw is adapted from a carpet designed by William Morris in 1889. It was commissioned for Bullerswood House in Kent, home of the Sanderson family (Sanderson fabrics), and was woven by Morris & Co in cotton and jute with a wool pile. After the Sandersons sold the house in 1920 the 17′ x 13′ carpet disappeared, being discovered in 2001 in a house in the Australian outback. It is now exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
Our French throw of this adapted design has a soft weave of 41% wool, 41% acrylic and 18% cotton. It could be used also as a decorative tablecloth as seen in this home office in Sydney – the Bullerswood throw back in Australia!
