William Morris wall tapestries
The Strawberry Thief tapestry is from a chintz design created in 1883 and now adapted as one of our William Morris wall tapestries. We see birds (thrushes?) stealing the strawberries. This design was produced by Morris & Co, originally founded as Morris, Marshall, Faulkner & Co in 1861. They were renowned for the design and production of very high quality decorative art including such textiles as this, tapestries, furniture and stained glass.
This tapestry is now woven in France in 80% cotton and 20% viscose in one size. It is fully lined, with a rod pocket for easy wall-hanging. Please note that the above image shows the larger size (now discontinued). The smaller size has a slightly lighter colour.
