Tapestry Description

Francois Boucher wall tapestries

Musical Shepherd tapestry is from the 18th century Noble Pastorales tapestries by Francois Boucher, the Court Painter of Louis XV and director of the royal tapestry workshops at Beauvais. A shepherd is wooing a girl with his music by a rococo waterfall next to a pond. This is typical of the romantic, though unrealistic, rural idyllic scenes he depicted in this series.

This, like most of our Francois Boucher wall tapestries, is now woven in Italy in 75% cotton and 25% viscose. These tapestry wall-hangings are available either unfinished, ie off the loom without a lining for US$130, or as a lined wall tapestry with a rod pocket for US$220.
