Harvesting of Pineapples tapestry
Emperor of China tapestries
The magnificent Harvesting of Pineapples tapestry, also called La Recolte des Ananas, is from the Emperor of China tapestries series. We see the Empress attended by a maid and workers gathering pineapples near tall banana and pine trees. Note the distant pagodas. These French tapestries were originally woven at Beauvais between 1697 and 1705 in wool and silk and they measured nearly 14 feet high. Each corner bears the arms of Louis-Alexandre de Bourbon, a son of Louis XIV. Six of the ten tapestries survive, held at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
Today one of them, the Harvesting of Pineapples tapestry, is woven in France in a high quality weave of 50% wool and 50% cotton giving both full depth and fine detailing. It is lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging. As well as the full tapestry we have several details available showing left or right sides in different sizes and a square version: The Pineapple Harvest.
