Description
Pineapple Harvest – right detail
Matching pair of French tapestries
Pineapple Harvest – right detail tapestry is half of the Harvesting of Pineapples tapestry, La Recolte des Ananas one of the Emperor of China tapestries. This detail does not show the harvesting of pineapples but we do see pineapple plants under a banana tree – see the distant pagodas. This right side matches a left side (RL246) – ideal as a matching pair of French tapestries. This French tapestry was originally woven at Beauvais between 1697 and 1705 in wool and silk and the surviving six of the ten originals are all at the Getty Museum, Los Angeles.
Today the Pineapples Harvest tapestries are woven in France in a high quality weave of 50% wool and 50% cotton giving both full depth and fine detailing. They are lined, with a rod pocket – we enclose tapestry hanging information with each order. We have several details available, as well as the full Harvesting of Pineapples tapestry.
