Description
Pineapple Harvest – left
La Recolte des Ananas
Pineapple Harvest – left tapestry is half of the magnificent Harvesting of Pineapples tapestry, also called La Recolte des Ananas. This is one of the Emperor of China tapestries, here showing the Empress and a worker gathering pineapples near tall banana and pine trees. This left side matches a right side (RL245) to complete the full tapestry – ideal as a matching pair.
This French tapestry was originally woven at Beauvais between 1697 and 1705 in wool and silk. The six surviving tapestries in the series are at the Getty Museum, Los Angeles.
Today the Pineapple Harvest tapestries are woven in France in a high quality weave of 50% wool and 50% cotton giving both full depth and fine detailing. They are lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging. We have several details available, as well as the full tapestry.
