The Statue Portiere tapestry is one of a pair of late 18th century portiere wall hangings for the Hotel de Crillon in Paris, matching the Bouquet Portiere tapestry. On this link you will see more representative colouring in a better photograph.
A portiere is a tall slim French wallhanging sometimes hung over a door or also on either side of a doorway. Today it is woven in France in 80% cotton and 20% viscose. The tapestry is fully lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging – we provide tapestry hanging information with each order.
