Tapestry Description

Unicorn at the Fountain

French medieval wall tapestry

The Unicorn at the Fountain tapestry, sometimes called The Unicorn is Found, shows one of the Hunt for the Unicorn tapestries. The twelve hunters have found the unicorn cleansing the waters of the fountain with his horn. Like all these Unicorn Tapestries there is much allegorical symbolism understood in medieval times. This series of seven early 16th century tapestries is now at the Metropolitan Cloisters in New York.

This French medieval wall tapestry is woven today in 80% cotton and 20% viscose. It is lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging – we provide tapestry hanging information with each order. It has a dark blue lower background. The tapestry is also available with a blue border.

Please note that the above image shows the larger size. The smaller size has a slightly lighter colour.
