The Versailles Promenade tapestry shows the gardens at the Palace of Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV. It has the lower text “Tentures des Jardins Versailles M.DC.LXV” (ie 1665). Its border comprises fruits and flowers with animals and birds in the corners. Today this elegant French wall tapestry is woven in a fine 50% wool/50% cotton weave which gives both depth and fine detailing. It is lined, with a rod pocket for easy wall-hanging.
