At the Tournament
Jousting tapestry wall-hanging
At the Tournament tapestry is a detail from a tapestry woven originally at the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins in 1895-1899 showing scenes at a medieval jousting tournament. It was designed by Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921) and titled “Une descente de tournoi à la fin du XVème siècle”. This vertical wall tapestry shows some of the non-jousting activities at the tournament.
This jousting tapestry wall-hanging series is also available in several other formats: see ME155, ME156 and ME158. All these are woven in France in a fine 50% wool and 50% cotton weave which results in fullness and depth yet with fine detailing. It is lined with a rod pocket – we supply hanging information with each order.
