La Manta tapestry
Nine Worthies wall tapestry
La Manta tapestry is also known as the Nine Worthies tapestry. It is from an early medieval fresco dated about 1420 which shows the Nine Worthies in the baronial hall of the Castello della Manta, Saluzo, Italy. These were three good Christians, three good pagans and three good Jews. On the left is Godfrey of Bouillon (designated as one of the good Christians) who led the First Crusade and was proclaimed King of Jerusalem in 1100.
La Manta tapestry is woven in France in a fine acrylic/viscose blend with golden thread detailing. It is lined, with a rod pocket – we enclose tapestry hanging suggestions with each order.
