Montacute Knight
Knight on horseback wall tapestry
The Montacute Knight is a quintessential knight on horseback wall tapestry. It shows Jean de Daillon in armour on his finely attired horse bearing his arms, with a solid black background and decorative border. He was one of Joan of Arc’s knights and also an officer of Charles VII. The original tapestry was woven in Arras in the late 15th century and is now at Montacute House, Somerset, England.
Today this fine French tapestry wall-hanging is woven in 50% wool and 50% cotton resulting in an ideal combination of fullness and depth yet with fine detailing. The tapestry is lined and has a rod pocket for easy hanging. Please note that the largest size is non-returnable.
This medieval tapestry is also available in three sizes with a mille fleurs background, being a reproduction of the original.
