Vase and Grapes tapestry
Beauvais tapestries
The Vase and Grapes tapestry was originally one of the Beauvais tapestries first shown at the 1878 Exposition Universalle de Paris. It was created after a painting attributed to Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer. It is now exhibited at the Musee d’Orsay, Paris (the only tapestry we saw on a visit to that superb museum a few years ago).
Today this French tapestry wallhanging is finely woven in three sizes in 50% wool and 50% cotton. This weave results in an ideal combination of fullness and depth yet with fine detailing. The tapestry is lined and has a rod pocket for easy hanging – we provide tapestry hanging information with each order. please note that the largest size is non-returnable.
