Skaters tapestry
Mois de Lucas tapestries
The Skaters tapestry is from the set of Mois de Lucas tapestries first woven in Brussels in 1535. They were later adapted at the Gobelins workshops in Paris in 1733-37 and are now at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The tapestry represents December, showing skating on a large pond with a castle in the background. Today it is woven in France in a fine 50% wool and 50% cotton weave which gives both good detailing qualities and full depth. It is lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging – we provide tapestry hanging information with each order.. Please note that the larger size is non-returnable. We also have the central portion in a vertical tapestry.
