Althea Portiere – left
The Althea Portiere – left tapestry is inspired by an enamel dish created in about 1875 by the French potter Joseph-Theodore Deck (1823-91), having a classic floral design with a modern twist. Portiere wall-hangings were used to flank doorways of elegant French chateaux – the Althea Portiere is available with this left portion and a matching right portion which make a dramatic pair of tapestries. Alternatively, both are combined on the full Althea Portiere wallhanging.
This tapestry wall hanging is woven in France in a high quality 50% wool and 50% cotton weave which results in fullness and depth yet also fine detailing. It is lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging.
