Mont St Michel in the Bayeux Tapestry
Woven in Belgium
Mont St Michel in the Bayeux Tapestry is a scene from the remarkable embroidery (not a tapestry) that is 224 feet (nearly 70 metres) long and 20″ high (50cm). The embroidery shows the history of the Norman invasion of Saxon England. The fifty scenes progress from the death of King Edward the Confessor through William the Conqueror’s invasion to the decisive Battle of Hastings in 1066. Today it can be seen at the Musée de la Tapisserie de Bayeux in Normandy.
This scene is woven in Belgium today in a 72% cotton, 19% trevira and 9% wool weave which gives full and depth with good detailing. It is fully lined, with a rod pocket for easy hanging – we supply hanging information with every order.

Adrienne, a regular NSW Australian customer, purchased several tapestries for framing including Mont St Michel in the Bayeux Tapestry. She wrote this Google Review: “Highly recommended. Wonderful quality tapestry pieces. Very helpful service, am sure to buy again!”
Here is the Mont St Michel wallhanging in a superb setting in a home in The Netherlands.:
Another customer sent us this intriguing photograph of a pair of Bayeux tapestries hanging outside (she lives in the south of France). As well as the Mont St. Michel scene we also see the Navigio tapestry (she added their hanging tabs herself though all our tapestries have a rod pocket):
Our Bayeux Tapestry selection is woven by four different weavers in France and Belgium. These are Belgian tapestries from one company there which all have the same yarns and colour tones – this list can be handy when hanging Bayeux tapestries together so that they match.
