Bayeux Tapestry – William Embarks
Bayeux tapestries for sale
Bayeux Tapestry – William Embarks is the most popular from our wide selection of Bayeux tapestries for sale. It shows William the Conqueror’s army embarking from France to invade England.
This famous embroidery (it is not a woven tapestry) is over 220 feet long (nearly 70 metres) and 20 inches high (50cm) having fifty scenes of the Norman invasion of Saxon England – events from the death of King Edward the Confessor to William, Duke of Normandy’s victory at the Battle of Hastings in 1066. It is on display at the Musée de la Tapisserie de Bayeux in Normandy, France.
Today this detail from the Bayeux Tapestry is woven in France in 80% cotton and 20% viscose, and is fully lined with a rod pocket for easy hanging. This medieval tapestry is also available without the blue border. Further, the left and right sides of this medieval tapestry are available separately, with or without the border seen here.
Bill sent us this photo of the Bayeux tapestry wall-hanging in his home in Western Australia. He wrote”Thank you for your assistance and terrific service”.
Christina and Craig in Chicago, IL purchased the larger size of the Bayeux Tapestry – William Embarks and wrote this Google Review: “We purchased a tapestry depicting William the Conqueror invading England in 1066. It arrived very quickly and looks wonderful. The fabric is of heavy, good quality, and the design is expertly done, with clear, sharp colors. We had contacted customer service while ordering and received a prompt response to our questions, too. In all, this was an excellent buying experience and we highly recommend this company.”
And June in St. Augustine, FL wrote “The Bayeux tapestry (actually an embroidery) is a splendid slice of history. It is a miracle that it survived at all. But more it is preserved in excellent condition, stitched in grand detail and rich colors, the Latin narrative crisp and clear. It was a surprise to find on-line reproductions of sections of the tapestry that so closely reflect the original; and even more impressive, that the piece that we ordered is more impressive than the photos on the web site. Martin and Linda are to be congratulated on their selection, quality and service.”
You might find it helpful to know that the links below all show tapestries woven by the same French weaver, having the same colour tones and yarn. (Four different European weavers produce our selection.) This is especially handy when hanging matching Bayeux tapestry wall-hangings side by side.
