Fortis et Fidelis
Medieval knights wall tapestries
Fortis et Fidelis (strong and faithful) appears on a banner in a medieval tournament tapestry scene woven originally at the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins in 1895-1899. It was created by Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921) and titled “Une descente de tournoi à la fin du XVème siècle”. This vertical wall tapestry shows a detail of some of the non-jousting activities at the tournament.
This series of knights wall tapestries is also available in several other formats: see ME155, ME156 and ME157. All are woven in France in a high quality 50% wool and 50% cotton weave which results in fullness and depth yet with fine detailing. The tapestry is lined and has a rod tunnel – we supply hanging information with each order.
