Montacute Knight tapestry
French medieval tapestry wall-hanging
The Montacute Knight tapestry was originally woven in Arras between 1477 and 1480. It depicts Jean de Daillon on horseback bearing his heraldic arms, with a mille fleurs background. He was one of Joan of Arc’s knights, an officer of Charles VII and ambassador for Louis XI. His coat of arms is in the top left corner. The original is in Montacute House, Somerset, England.
Today this fine French medieval tapestry wall-hanging is woven in 50% wool and 50% cotton resulting in an ideal combination of fullness and depth yet with fine detailing. The tapestry is lined and has a rod pocket for easy hanging. Please note that the largest size is non-returnable.
