Description
The Tournament tapestry
Medieval jousting
The Tournament tapestry was originally woven at the Manufacture Royale des Gobelins in 1895-1899 showing scenes at a medieval jousting tournament. It was drawn by Jean-Paul Laurens (1838-1921) and titled “Une descente de tournoi à la fin du XVème siècle”.
The tapestry is shown here in its full design but it is also available in three other partial formats, all smaller: ME156, ME157, ME158. All these are woven in France in 50% wool and 50% cotton. This high quality weave results in a perfect combination of fullness and depth yet with fine detailing. The tapestry is lined with a rod pocket for ease of hanging. Please note that this size is non-returnable.
